I started as a co-op in October 1997 at Steel of West Virginia. Little did I know that this small mill, one of the last cross-country special shape mills in the US and home to a structural mill, would open so many possibilities.
A huge thank you to Mr. Jody Johnson for hiring me, Mr. Gregory Roy for drilling perfection, Mr. Darry Peck for introducing me to roll pass design, Mr. Timmothy Jenkins for showing me how to make things happen, Mr. Joe Schweitzer for his encouragement and Mr. Giles Gilley for his patience.
Not everyone gets to learn from the best in their fields, but I did. From designing guides, programming, and running block and CNC lathes to laying out passes on vellum, I owe my knowledge to these men and to the men and women of that small mill in Huntington, WV.
